Council launches CBD Activation Pilot Project

Narrabri Shire Council has been successful in obtaining grant funding to launch a pilot activation project for Narrabri’s CBD which focuses on bringing life to public spaces in a COVID-safe way.

The CBD Activation Project is part of the NSW Government Summer Fund initiative which brings The Festival of Place to people right across the state, as part of the NSW Government’s efforts to support community wellbeing and economic recovery in local centres.

Aptly named Narra-BRIGHT, the pilot activation will commence on Friday 19 March 2021 with late-night trading at participating businesses from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. Several Maitland Street building facades will be illuminated with a temporary coloured LED light installation from 7.30pm and performers will provide entertainment, adding to the atmosphere of the CBD during night-time activation.

Narra-BRIGHT will coincide with The Crossing Theatre’s CREATE Festival.  Council encourages the community to join in on the Narra BRIGHT activation activities and CREATE festival. Maitland Street businesses can get involved by completing an Expression of Interest, which closes 5.00pm, Friday 26 February 2021.

“Businesses can submit their interest to undertake a refurbishment to the facade of their business or commercial building through this project.
